DR MICHEL LANDRY

Dr Landry is currently a Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University (USA) and the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (Norway). Before to his current position, he spent a decade as Division Chief of the Doctor of Physical Therapy Division at Duke University, where he led a rebuild of the program which is now ranked in the top 10 in the United States. His teaching and educational innovations have focused on global health, health system strengthening, and rehabilitation health service and policy. He is currently the President of World Physiotherapy.

ASSOC PROF DR STANLEY JOHN WINSER

Dr Winser is an Assistant Professor of Physiotherapy and the Editor of the IMPACT newsletter of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong. He specializes in Neuro-rehabilitation in Physiotherapy. He completed his Doctoral degree at the University of Otago (UoO), New Zealand. Dr Winser obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy and worked as a Clinical Physiotherapist for many years at the Rehabilitation Centre of the Christian Medical College & Hospital (CMCH), India. During his Master’s degree, Dr Winser secured the Gold Medal for the Best performance in Neurosciences in Physiotherapy. Dr Winser obtained a certificate in Health Economics from the University of Aberdeen, UK. He is a board member of the Hong Kong Spinocerebellar Ataxia Association (HKSCAA), Hong Kong. His research focuses on economic evaluation, balance training and falls prevention among people with movement disorders and older adults.

Dr Pinailug is an Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Therapy at Thammasat University Thailand. She specializes in Pediatric Physical Therapy. She obtained her doctoral degree in Physiotherapy from The University of Queensland, Australia in 2013. She published a lot of articles about cerebral palsy. Her current project is about the incidence of cerebral palsy and early intervention in high-risk infants.

Monika Verma is a highly experienced and skillful physiotherapist with over 20 years of clinical experience. Ms. Verma has been in private practice since 1997 and is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), UK. The combined experience of 7 years at Singapore General Hospital and Mt Elizabeth Medical Centre. She has written many new clinical protocols for the management of patients with Musculoskeletal injuries. Her key strengths are clinical management of patients and human resource management.

Dr Dinesh is a Vice Chair of World Physiotherapy – AWP Region. He is an accomplished professional and entrepreneur with a bachelor degree in physiotherapy and advanced degree in MBA from Henry Management College U.K. He has been a clinical physiotherapist for 10 years. He also has a thorough understanding of Asian markets for 13 years – especially Rehabilitation medicine / Sports medicine and Orthopaedics – from distribution management / key players / productions and Clinical perspective.

Owen Teoh is a Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Fourier Intelligence Malaysia. He is an advocate for robotics and advanced rehabilitation technology. He is an experienced leader with demonstrated accomplishments in the healthcare industry. Skilled in the development of both healthcare services and healthcare business operation. He is also a strong business management personnel with a Master of Business Administration (MBA) focused on business strategies, management and operations from the University of Strathclyde. Supported by his In-depth clinical and research knowledge in clinical rehabilitation with a master degree of clinical rehabilitation from Australia. Overall, Owen Teoh Teik Zhun has a broad educational background in physiotherapy, clinical rehabilitation, business administration, and various specialized certifications related to their field of expertise.

Dr Shariff is an Associate Professor at Faculty of Medicine Universiti Malaya. He is known as the experts of muscles and other soft injury management. He finished his doctoral degree in medicine from Universiti Malaya. His research interest includes exercise prescription, disable sports, platelet-rich plasma for soft tissue injuries, and sports injury, which he received various research grant. His current projects are pattern of injuries among footballers and platelet-rich plasma injection for grade 2 hamstring injury.

Graduated with Diploma of Physiotherapy in Dec. 1999 from College of Physiotherapy, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, BSc. in Applied Rehabilitation (Physiotherapy) in 2003 and Master of Medical Science in Aug. 2010 from University of Malaya Kuala Lumpur Currently, she is attached to the Dept. of Rehabilitation Medicine, University Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) since Feb. 2000. She is the Head of Physiotherapy Division UMMC. Working in the out-patient dept. She mainly treats musculoskeletal sports related injuries. Her area of interest is in the field of musculoskeletal /and Orthopaedics.

ASSOC PROF DR NUR AZAH HAMZAID

ASSOC PROF DR NUR AZAH HAMZAID

Dr Nur Azah Hamzaid is currently Associate Professor at the Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. She obtained her bachelor in Mechatronics Engineering (1st class Hons) in 2005 and pursued her PhD in Rehabilitation Engineering at the University of Sydney, Australia in the same year. While her background is hard engineering, her interest in applying her Mechatronics Engineering knowledge into the medical rehabilitation field brought her to undertake clinical and biomechanics research field. As her PhD project, she developed a novel isokinetic FES leg stepping trainer for individuals with Spinal Cord Injury, and investigate the effects of its use by paraplegics in the Rehabilitation Gym in the University of Sydney Lidcombe campus during their FES training sessions. She is now at Biomedical Engineering Department in UM since 2010, pioneering the Biomechatronics, Neuroprosthetics and Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) research group in Malaysia. She is also currently Biomedical Engineering Consultant at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), seeing patients of complex rehabilitation cases at the Rehabilitation Robotics Clinic (CREATE).

PROF DR ALIA A ALGHWIRI

Professor Alia Alghwiri is a physiotherapist who obtained her MSc and Ph.D. degrees in neurological rehabilitation from the University of Pittsburgh, USA. She currently holds the positions of executive board member at World Physiotherapy, head of the physiotherapy department at the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences at the Applied Science Private University in Jordan, and adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Professor Alghwiri's research interests primarily focus on neuroscience and understanding the brain's impact on physical and mental health. She has an extensive publication record in various neurological areas, including stroke, and has been teaching neurological physiotherapy courses for over 12 years.

PROF DR NAZIRAH BINTI HASNAN

PROF DR NAZIRAH BINTI HASNAN

Professor Dr Nazirah Hasnan is a Consultant Rehabilitation Physician and deputy Director (Clinical) University of Malaya Medical Centre. She is also a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. Her qualifications are PhD (UM-USYD), MRehabMed (UM) MBBS (UM). Her areas of expertise and interest are Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation, Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation, Pressure Ulcer and Wound Management. Pain Management, Technology for Exercise and rehabilitation, (Functional Electrical Stimulation, Virtual Reality Rehabilitation), Exercise for spinal cord injury, and Persons with Disabilities. Dr Nazirah is also engaged in Health Promotion for persons with disabilities.

DEBORAH HARRISON

Deborah Harrison developed a strong interest in neurology in all age groups after completing her degree in 2008. She enjoys dealing with adults and children who have severe neurological problems, as well as working in a multidisciplinary team setting. She is particularly interested in dealing with children of various ages, both at school and at home, which she enjoys because the therapy must be innovative in order to involve the child. She has worked with both brain and spinal cord injuries and is particularly interested in Functional Electrical Stimulation and technology gadgets. In 2015, she was a nominee for the Rehab First Award in the 'Outstanding Individual' category, and in 2018, she was a finalist for the Claims Awards 'Rehabilitation Employee of the Year'.
